[Kdrama] ‘The Legendary Witch’ ep 17 ~recap/review/opinion~

Bok Nyeo tells her daughters that she will step out to visit Nr 911 at the prison, however before leaving their former cell mate appears right before their eyes, all dolled up. To celebrate her release, Nr 911 got present for everyone even for Mi Oh’s boy. Bok Nyeo doesn’t seem comfortable with taking the gifts since nr 911 may have stole the money, however she tells everyone that one of her lottery tickets was a winning one.

Before the engagement ceremony, Aeng Ran and Joo Ran are stunned to see Do Jin’s future wife with a baby, but the girl introduces the baby as her nephew. Although the other two find it strange, Bo Kyung’s mother comes fast and takes the baby away, yet Aeng Ran and Joo Ran do see the similarities between the future daughter in law and the child, yet Joo Ran is the one that finds it strange.

Do Jin who is on his way to the ceremony wants to step by some place to take some fresh air, but secretary Wang tells him that he had orders from Aeng Ran to drive him straight to the engagement party. Meanwhile Woo Seok succeeds with his premium product presentation so Tae San wants to treat him, but the chef refuses the money since it was something he had to do as a Shinhwa employee. Before leaving to Do Jin’s engagement, Tae San tells Woo Seok that his family’s peace depends on his desire to marry or not Joo Hee, but Woo Seok tries to remind the man his stance regarding the issue.

Poong Geum tries to suck up to Nr 911 now that she has money. However Bok Nyeo tells Nr 911 to return all the money she stole from her in the past, but the two end up angering each other since the woman didn’t gave out all the money she was supposed to.

Soo In sees Mi Oh sad and tells her to go home and have a rest (knowing that her sadness comes from the fact that Do Jin is getting engaged). During the engagement ceremony, Do Jin looks as if his soul left the body as he remembers all the moments together with Mi Oh. Do Jin puts his hands over his face and starts crying but Aeng Ran calls him out and he goes forward with the ceremony.

After the ceremony Bo Kyung comes to Do Jin with a key to a suite room, but he pushes her aside saying that if she wants to spend the first night she can do it with whomever she wants because he doesn’t care. Bo Kyung is left alone and agreed she breaks the key.

Because Mi Oh is too sad, Soo In sends her home to calm down. Then Woo Seok appears and Soo In tries to run away from him but he calls her out. Woo Seok jokes with her that she may ignore him after being embarrassed the other day. Since her bread wasn’t selling as it used, Soo In asks for advice from her teacher however he doesn’t want to help her for free so Woo Seok takes out an invitation to Byeol’s school – “A Christmas party with parents” – asking Soo In to take his place .

Nr 911 wants to sleep at Yi Moon’s house but Bok Nyeo chases her out, even so Poong Geum takes her in to the share house. On their way out, the two meet up with Woo Seok and nr 911 give some (pocket) money to him as well.

Do Jin goes missing and Joo Ran decides to anger Aeng Ran more by asking her if it’s alright to marry him with someone else since the guy has another woman in his heart. Bo Kyung calls but Aeng Ran lies to her saying that Do Jin was tired and he went to sleep.

At the same time, Joo Hee pays a visit to Soo In. She goes straight to the point and asks what’s Soo In’s relationship with Woo Seok. Soo In calms her sister in law saying that Woo Seok has only sympathy towards her, however Joo Hee demands a more and asks Soo In to not stir Woo Seok up because he is the only man she trusts thus she wants to have more than a senior-junior relationship with him.

Back home, Soo In sees Do Jin in front of the gate – although he wants to see Mi Oh he tells his sister in law that he has no right. Drunk, Do Jin apologizes to Soo In because he couldn’t do anything for her although he knew that she was falsely accused. On the other hand, Soo In doesn’t seem to have any hard feeling towards him as she understands his situation. Yet, Do Jin can’t seem to understand how she and Mi Oh got to know each other since Mi Oh was supposedly aboard studying for two years. Not knowing how to answer, Soo In tells Do Jin that his phone is ringing so he better answer it.

Mr Tak goes to pick up Do Jin but in the car he still seems concerned about how the two women got to meet. Out of the blue, the driver has a slip of a tongue and tells Do Jin that the 4 women are former inmates. Angered, Do Jin asks for the truth from Aneg Ran – cornered by the truth, Aneg Ran finally tells the truth to her son, however Do Jin shouts back that he is deeply disappointed in his mother.

Joo Ran who heard everything runs to tell her husband the big news. But the husband calls her an idiot since the time the 4 women came to their house, they clearly told everyone that they are former inmates. But the two definitely seem to use the opportunity now that Do Jin knows the truth.

Woo Seok waits for Soo In to teach her how to make a new bread – nervous since he also prepared a hair pin for her (the one he got for Soo In when the two went out to buy equipment for her truck). But Soo In seems to be bothered by Joo Hee’s words. Since her mind was somewhere else, Soo In burs herself with hot bread and when Woo Seok takes her hand to see if she got hurt, the woman releases herself fast from the grip.

Woo Seok thinks it’s a good moment to give Soo In the pin he got for her, but she starts talking about Joo Hee being a good person so he puts the pin back into his pocket. Soo In confesses that Joo Hee misunderstood their relationship thinking that they are together, but Woo Seok gets angry at her for thinking lightly of their relationship (they are not in a relationship but since he is at the stage of showing his feelings for her, the guy got a little angry thinking that she takes his feelings lightly) and even more to treat it as a misunderstanding by those around.

Woo Seok: “How can she be so insensitive not noticing me (my heart). I’d be better off talking to a wall!”

Hurt by her words, Woo Seok stays outside looking at the pin he got for Soo In. At night, Nr 911 mistakes Mr Tak’s room as her own.

The next morning Soo In apologizes to Woo Seok for her mistake, but now he is irritated because she thinks of what happened as a mistake (the whole conversation from last night). Byeol appears and Soo In notices the pretty new pin and the girl says that she received it from Woo Seok, since the father didn’t needed it, yet Soo In remembers the pin – from the day she went with Woo Seok to the market. Embarrassed, Woo Seok wants to leave fast but Soo In stops him – he was leaving with his house slippers on and not with the shoes.

During breakfast, Joo Ran annoys Aeng Ran telling her that she committed a sin against her own son. After the conversation about Do Jin end, Joo Hee is called from Byeol’s school that there is a new event for the kids and the mothers and because she wanted to know whenever new events were being held, the teacher called her.

At school, one of Byeol’s classmates is curious about who Soo In is, and the girl tells everyone that she will be her mother – Soo In enters the game and confirms everything and even asking the classmates not to bully Byeol because she will be the girl’s mother – but at that moment Joo Hee enters the room and hears everything.

Joo Hee acts like a brat and demands Soo In to move out from Woo Seok’s house. Later Do Jin takes his step mother to see Soo In ( but he kinda used it as an excuse to see Mi Oh). Do Jin reveals that he knows the truth about her being in prison and apologizes for blaming her all this time. Concerned, Soo In calls Aeng Ran to tell her that Do Jin went to her shop with Do Hyun’s mother.

Aeng Ran comes to pick up Do Hyun’s mother but before getting to leave Bok Nyeo sees them.
