[Kdrama] Looking forward Spring season list (April-May 2015)

Before getting to talk about the ‘looking forward’ list for April and May I’m going to say a few things I liked or didn’t about my February-March list. Form my previews post, I did manage to watch most of them with the exception of ‘Book of corrections’ because I couldn’t find subtitles and although I can understand some Korean, I just didn’t want to stress myself over not understanding the whole story so I’m keeping the drama on hold until a soul will decided to release some English subtitles. Also I couldn’t start ‘Missing Noir M’ since the show begin airing recently (on 28 March) and I didn’t get the chance because time isn’t my friend.

Another drama that started last month was ‘Bluebird’s House’ and to be quite quick on my opinion, I’m still not fully connected to the whole drama. I like it but something is lacking and I’m not sure if I can follow it until the end but for now I will see what it becomes out of it and maybe soon, the story will start to draw me in.

Next it was ‘Heard It through the Grapevine ’, a witty story telling of a family whose teenage son comes home with his pregnant girlfriend. Although the plot is pretty serious, the actual drama was made in a more humorous sense and it’s a real pleasure to watch this drama.

The last one was ‘Queen’s flower’, a real makjang drama with birth secrets and lots of complication but I’m enjoying the ride so far, yet the same as ‘Bluebird’s house’ I can’t call it a favorite nor that I’m feeling the plot. Still, it’s pleasant.

Leaving behind my Feb-March list, I also started to watch ‘Angry Mom’ even though it didn’t seem that appealing to me it actually managed to get my full attention and I’m loving all of it, from story to writing and acting,. Another drama that I didn’t mention on my initial post was ‘Super Daddy Yul’ and to my surprise it’s an okay drama yet it’s similar to last year’s MBC drama ‘MAMA’ and I was rather invested in that drama so it’s a little weird seeing the same plot used with all kind of funny background sounds – the producers needs to seriously cut some of those sounds, what’s too much is too much.

For a small top, my top for February-March is:

  1. Angry Mom;
  2. Super Daddy Yul;
  3. Bluebird’s house;
  4. Heard It through the Grapevine;
  5. Queen’s flower.

‘The Girl Who Sees Smells’ –SBS

Episodes: 16

Airing date: April 1

As for my new looking forward list, first up is ‘The Girl Who Sees Smells’ and despise my attitude towards these types of rom-com dramas from time to time we do need them. The cast isn’t something I would like or more like I’m not a fan of no one in the drama but still, after watching the long trailer this drama looks kind of fun so I’ll give it a try.

Cast: Last year’s MBC winning award for the newcomer actor, Choi Tae Joon sadly he doesn’t play a main character since we have Park Yoo Chun and Shin Se Kyung. I suppose this drama is the perfect example of Korea having young talented actors but ends up giving the main role to those that have the popularity on their side. There is also Namgung Min but except for his ‘Maro oppa’ character I don’t find him as an actor that can own my focus.

Production: Neither the writer or the director had nay outstanding projects or at least no drama that I was fond of.

Hwajung – MBC

Episodes: 50

Airing date: April 13

Cast: Cha Sung Won, Cho Seong Ha, Jung Woong In, Kim Jae Won, lee Yeon Hee, Han Joo Wan (Wang family) and Seo Kang Joon.

Look at the cast, do I need any more reasons to watch this drama? The production staff doesn’t fall behind either after all we have the director Kim Sang Ho who also did: Can You Hear my Heart, When a man loves and Arang and the Magistrate, as for the writer, Kim Yi Young or how I call her ‘the historical drama ruler’ because she also made: Lee San, Dong Yi and Horse Doctor; as for her modern dramas, the writer wrote: Marrying a Millionaire and My Love, Patzzi.

Who are you: School 2015

Episodes: TBA

Airing date: April 27

The ‘School’ series continues with a 2015 edition of the show, with new cast and new story – as they always do. But after watching School 2 (1999) and comparing with the 2013 one, I feel that this show is losing its original touch although it still continues with youthful stories.

The cast isn’t really actually what I was expecting because I’m always more on the side of using young actors rather than idols, or former models but Yook Sung Jae is a nice addition to the show even though he is an idol.

Cast (so far): Kim So Hyun, Nam Ju Hyuk and Yook Sung Jae.

Agreeably Warm/Warm and Cozy (Jejudo Gatsby) – MBC

Episodes: TBA

Airing date: May~ (TBA)

My number one looking forward drama goes to ‘Agreeably Warm’ although there isn’t much information on the plot but Yoo Yeon Seok, Kang So Ra and Uhm Ki Joon are certainly doing the trick for me.

Even so, I’m personally not a big fan of the Hong sister’s writing but again for the main actors I’ll just hang in there.

The director, Park Hong Kyun is the man behind ‘The Great Queen Seondeok’ and ‘The Greatest Love’ so it adds one more reason for me to watch this drama.

Ex-Girlfriend Club

Episodes: TBA

Airing date: May~

Lately Korea is really into making ‘live-actions’ from popular webtoons and this drama is no exception. But after reading the plot, I find it interesting and curious to see how the writer will develop the story (by the way, I didn’t read the webtoon).

Cast: To be honest, I really don’t like Song Ji Hyo and I won’t hide it (sorry) but I saw all of her other projects and tried to like her as an actress but with no result, I failed miserably – from my point of view, she can’t act or at least nothing like a main character. The other cast member, except for Byun Yo Han and Lee Yoon Ji are just some random actors and actresses but since the story looks interesting I’ll give it a try.

The director is Kwon Seok Jang also worked on: Miss Korea and Pasta.

Other dramas that I’m going to add are Fall In love with Soon Jung, pretty much another drama about a guy who has a heart transplant and falls in love with a girl but from the previews it looked nice. Also including ‘Divorce Lawyer in Love’ mainly for the cast because the story doesn’t seem that exciting so I’ll wait and see.

If anyone has more recommendation or any other looking forward dramas, please don’t be shy and share it with me. By the way, it would be nice to know why a certain drama got your attention.

  1. Looking forward to so many dramas, “The girl who sees smells” seems intresting and I read a first impression of the drama wich was really positive. Yoo Yun Suk is my love after “Reply 1994” and I also like Kang Sora so “Agreeably Warm” is a must see for me : P I didn’t watch “School 2013” or any school series but I read the story of “School 2015” and it sounds intresting. “Ex-Girlfriend Club” isn’t a story that I’m looking forward to, I haven’t seen works of the main actor, although I want to continue “Misaeng” I’m still in episode two, but I didn’t like Song Ji Hyo either because I hated her in “Goong” but after watching “Emergency Couple” I changed that thought. I covered everything 😛

    p.s “Orange Marmalade” sounds cute too

    1. Thanks for reminding me about Orange Marmalade, the director is Lee Hyung Min who made Bd Guys, Sorry I love you, Winter Sonata and The snow queen. I’m going to keep this one on my list as well.

      1. I haven’t seen any of these dramas, but I know them and that they are very famous, I’m guessing his a famous director : P

    1. Thank you, I didn’t had the time to answer the questions but I will soon make a post with my answers. Thanks again 😀
